Centre for Childhood Health appoints a new chairperson
Centre for Childhood Health, a newly established centre founded by the Ministry of the Interior and Health and the Novo Nordisk Foundation, is responsible for creating new evidence-based knowledge about children and young people's health and well-being. The Danish Minister of the Interior and Health, Sofie Løhde, recently appointed Jonas Egebart, Director of the Danish Health Authority, as the new chairperson of Centre for Childhood Health to lead the Centre's board and promote its contribution to creating new knowledge about weight and well-being.
Jonas Egebart, in collaboration with the Centre's director, Professor Dr. med. Morten Grønbæk, set the direction for the Centre's future work together with the rest of the board, which includes members from the Ministry of the Interior and Health, the Novo Nordisk Foundation, the University of Copenhagen, Local Government Denmark, Danish Regions and the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration.
The goal of the Centre is to increase well-being among children and adolescents, break down stigma and promote healthy weight development through research-based and solution-oriented initiatives in collaboration with researchers, educational institutions and professionals working closely with children and adolescents and their families.
Centre for Childhood Health has already launched several projects as part of their 2023 action plan. The projects include studies on the relationship between weight and well-being, research on pregnancy, diet and weight development, and establishing a data basis for knowledge about the health of children and adolescents. The results will be published regularly on the Centre's website and elsewhere.
