Well-being and Weight Status in Childhood
Background
The purpose of the grant is to increase knowledge about the relationship between weight and well-being among children and adolescents in Denmark, including the impact of weight status on later well-being and discomfort, as well as the influence of well-being and discomfort on subsequent weight development.
The project aims to examine the links between children's well-being and weight status from birth to the end of school (16 years). It will utilize data from the "Children's Health Database" (Databasen Børns Sundhed), which contains information about children's development, well-being, weight, and height. The study will analyze how well-being in early childhood and early school years is associated with later weight status, and conversely, how weight status early in life is linked to later well-being. Additionally, the project will investigate whether socioeconomic status influences these relationships.
The results will contribute to a better understanding of how early interventions can help improve children's health and well-being.
