Two new board members will strengthen efforts to promote health and well-being among children and young people
The Centre for Childhood Health is strengthening its Board with two new members: Lotte Holten, Centre Director at Danish Regions, and Cecilie Solstad, Food Director at the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration.
The two new board members bring valuable knowledge from regional health initiatives and the food sector, respectively. Both are key elements in efforts to improve health and well-being among children and young people in Denmark, says Director General of the Danish Health Authority, Jonas Egebart, who is Chair of the Board of the Centre for Childhood Health:
“I am very pleased to welcome Lotte Holten and Cecilie Solstad to the Board. They bring strong perspectives from their respective fields that complement both each other and the rest of the Board very well. Lotte Holten has in-depth knowledge of regional health initiatives, while Cecilie Solstad contributes important insight into the food sector and its significance for weight development, health, and well-being among children and young people,” says Jonas Egebart.
Strong combination of competencies
For both Lotte Holten and Cecilie Solstad, there is a clear connection between their professional fields and the Centre’s purpose.
“It is crucial that we work across sectors to create the best possible frameworks for children and young people. The regions play an important role in prevention and mental health, and I look forward to contributing to the Centre’s work and to strengthening collaboration across sectors,” says Lotte Holten.
Cecilie Solstad from the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration adds:
“Healthy eating habits and good frameworks around meals are a central part of children’s and young people’s well-being. I look forward to continuing the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration’s engagement in the work of the Centre for Childhood Health and to contributing knowledge about how food and lifestyle affect the youngest,” she says.
Focus on healthy environments and prevention
The Centre for Childhood Health supports research projects and tests preventive initiatives aimed at strengthening the health and well-being of children and young people in Denmark. For this reason, it is important to have strong partners in both the health and food sectors.
“Preventing rising rates of high weight and improving physical and mental well-being requires broad efforts – across health services, social environments, and what children and young people eat and drink. That is why both Danish Regions and the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration are key partners in this shared work,” says Jonas Egebart.
