In March 2026, researchers, practitioners, and decision-makers from Denmark and abroad will gather for the 34th Novo Nordisk Foundation Science Cluster Conference: Prevention of Childhood Obesity – Body, Brain & Society. The conference is organised in close collaboration with Centre for Childhood Health and highlights the complex interplay between weight, well-being, and children’s living conditions.
A holistic approach to children’s health
The conference shines a spotlight on a topic where biological, psychological, and social factors are tightly interwoven. Instead of viewing childhood obesity solely as a physical health challenge, the programme explores how mental well-being, stigma, social belonging, and everyday life structures affect children’s weight development – and how prevention strategies can incorporate this complexity.
